The Complete Kit for Your Tesla Camp Kitchen

The Five Pillars of the Tesla Camp Kitchen

Good Tesla camping gear follows a simple rule: every item has a clear job, nothing is dead weight. Five building blocks cover almost any trip. A camp stove to heat things up, a cooler plus a power solution for multi-day stays, shade and blackout against sun and curious eyes, a mattress for restful sleep in the car, and a stable surface to cook and plate on. The first four you pack. The work surface is built into the Frunkly frunk table: permanently mounted in your frunk, unfolds in under 10 seconds, no drilling and no extra piece of luggage. It isn't the whole setup, but it's the piece that ties everything else together.

1. Stove & Fuel

The heart of the camp kitchen. A compact screw-cartridge gas stove is the easiest option, an alcohol or multi-fuel stove the alternative for long trips. What matters most is a flat, wind-protected surface to cook on.

2. Cooling & Power

For multi-day trips, a compressor cooler keeps food reliably cold. Power comes from a portable power station or, depending on the load, the Tesla's 12-volt outlet. That keeps milk, vegetables, and the evening drink fresh.

3. Shade & Blackout

An awning or freestanding sun sail creates shade at your spot. Custom-fit window shades give you darkness and privacy at night. Both make the difference between enduring a spot and actually enjoying it.

4. Sleep Comfort

With the rear seats folded down, the Tesla offers a nearly flat sleeping area. A cut-to-fit mattress or sleeping pad evens out the rest, and a sleeping bag or blanket keeps you warm. Good sleep decides how the next camping day feels.

5. The Work Surface in the Frunk

The missing link in many setups. The Frunkly LT or LTX turns your frunk into a cooking station at comfortable standing height, holds up to 10 kg, and is always there. No bending down to low folding tables, no extra item to pack.

Tesla Camping Gear FAQ

Which camp stove fits Tesla camping?
For most people a compact screw-cartridge gas stove is plenty: quick heat, easy to handle, widely available. On long trips or abroad, alcohol or multi-fuel stoves are less dependent on cartridge supply. What matters isn't just the stove but a stable, wind-protected surface underneath it. That's exactly what the Frunkly provides in the frunk. See how it works in practice on our Tesla camping table page.
How do I power a cooler and devices while camping?
For several days, a compressor cooler is the most reliable choice. You can run it from a portable power station or, for smaller loads, the Tesla's 12-volt outlet. Plan your consumption realistically so you keep enough range to the next Supercharger. Those charging stops are great for cooking, by the way, more on our Supercharger table page.
Do I really need shade and blackout?
On sunny days, yes. A freestanding sun sail or awning makes your spot bearable during the day, and custom-fit window shades give you darkness and privacy at night. Camp Mode keeps the climate control running meanwhile. Together with a good cooking station, your spot becomes a proper place to stay rather than just somewhere to sleep.
How do I sleep comfortably in a Tesla?
With the rear seats folded down you get a nearly flat surface. A cut-to-fit mattress or a thick sleeping pad evens out gaps and the slight incline, paired with a sleeping bag or blanket. The exact sleeping area depends on your model. You'll find the dimensions on our Model 3 and Model Y pages.
Why a dedicated work surface, isn't the trunk enough?
Cooking on the trunk edge is awkward and wobbly, and once you sleep in the car the cargo area is occupied. The Frunkly uses the empty front frunk instead: a stable surface at standing height, up to 10 kg capacity, permanently mounted and ready in under 10 seconds. Our Why Frunkly page explains why that works better than a loose folding table.
Which Frunkly version fits my camping style?
The Frunkly LT (70 x 40 cm) is enough for coffee, breakfast, and a stove. The larger Frunkly LTX with a fold-out second level adds about 70 percent more surface and is ideal when you cook for two, but it's only available for the Model Y. If you'd rather build your own tabletop, there's the Maker Kit. You'll find all versions in the store.
Does all of this still fit in the Tesla frunk?
The Frunkly lies flat in the frunk when folded. A stove, utensils, plates, and your charging cable fit alongside it. A cooler and the mattress are too large for the frunk anyway and belong in the trunk or on the rear seats. That keeps the gear sensibly distributed, and a longer trip is best planned with our road trip guide.
